About Me

Runmin Lin, also known as Jeremy, is a Chinese tuba soloist, entrepreneur, and visionary currently

based in the United States. He is a doctoral candidate in the Tuba and Euphonium Studio at

Arizona State University, where he was named a finalist in the 2024–2025 Concerto Competition

and will serve as the Teaching Assistant for the Tuba and Euphonium Studio in Spring 2026.

 

As an internationally active tuba performer, Jeremy regularly appears in competitions, recitals, and

chamber music performances across continents. In 2023, he became the first Chinese tuba player to

advance in the Lieksa Brass Week Competition in Finland. His accolades include second place in

Division D of the 2022 Polish National International Youth Music Competition (first place vacant),

second place in the professional tuba category of the Muse International Music Competition in Greece, first prize at China’s 6th National College Art Exhibition in 2021, and the gold award in the adult division of China’s first national online wind competition hosted by Wind Music Network in 2020.

 

Jeremy began his musical journey at age sixteen, inspired by a German Brass CD. He studied under Professor Li Yutao, principal tuba of the Fujian Provincial Opera, and was admitted to several conservatories before choosing Soochow University to study with jazz trombonist and educator Professor Hu Qingwen. Following a recital performance, Jeremy was personally invited by legendary tuba artist Daniel Perantoni to pursue his master’s degree at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he studied on a full scholarship. His growth has been shaped by mentorship from globally renowned musicians, including Daniel Perantoni, Deanna Swoboda, Mike Roylance (Boston Symphony Orchestra), Robert Tucci, Sérgio Carolino, Wycliffe Gordon, Joe Burgstaller, and Tim Buzbee (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra).and Cristina Cutts (principal tuba, Phoenix Symphony).

 

Since 2019, Jeremy has performed in a wide range of productions and events, including the Blizzard Entertainment VGL Concert Tour, a 1,000-musician concert at the Suzhou Olympic Center, Tencent variety shows, recordings for Zhejiang Television, and Soochow University’s Brass Quintet Tour. He has collaborated with celebrated conductors such as Thomas Wilkins, Jonathan McPhee, Chen Xieyang, Xu Zhong, Yu Hai, and Tan Lihua, and frequently performs with professional ensembles including the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Changsha Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Opera House, and Shanghai Oriental Symphony Orchestra.

 

As an entrepreneur, Jeremy founded his first music business during his undergraduate studies and has since represented numerous international instrument brands. He later shifted his focus toward education, combining business expertise with pedagogical vision to empower arts education in China. His key initiatives include:

 

  1. TubaHome China – The first and only Chinese-language tuba community, serving thousands of players and currently developing the Chinese Tuba and Euphonium Youth Alliance.

  2. Chengfeng Music Overseas – A study-abroad support platform created in collaboration with Chaoyin and China Music Network.

  3. Zhengsheng Orchestra Project – Working with schools across China to build wind ensembles and set national benchmarks for student bands.

  4. Shanghai New Youth Philharmonic Orchestra – An international performance platform connecting Chinese music students from around the world.

 

 

Jeremy currently serves as the Regional Director of the Americas for Sierman Brass Instruments, leading efforts to expand the brand’s presence across North and South America and introduce affordable, high-quality tubas to a broader audience. He continues to support the growth of young brass musicians worldwide through performance, education, and access to reliable instruments.

 

Guided by the principle of eternal progress, Jeremy has provided services to nearly ten thousand music learners and professionals, making a lasting impact on China’s music education landscape with global reach and vision.

 

Jeremy currently performs on a Melton 4260S and Melton 195 tuba, and proudly recommends the Sierman line of instruments for their precision and playability.
